The Eastern Shore is Virginia’s pristine coastline, located on the outer coastal plain between the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean. The coastal waters and fertile soils of the Shore support one of the most productive areas for aquaculture and agriculture.

Every piece of land is located in a watershed. The waters that flow over and beneath the land eventually feed into coastal waters on the seaside or bayside. Landscape and land use significantly affect surface water quality and groundwater in this area.
